Norswiss Farmhouse Renovation-2nd Story Addition
This home is located on Norswiss Farms in Rice Lake, WI. We had completed a farmhouse renovation for Andreas Heers, owner of Norswiss Farms, in 2016. They were really happy with our work and how the project turned out, and so the spring of 2017 I received a call from Andreas saying they had another farmhouse they would like me to take a look at. We met at the farmhouse to discussed the project in detail, and in our discussion came up with an idea to completely remove a portion of the house roof to accommodate the addition of a master bedroom suite to the home. The house needed a complete interior renovation...new kitchen, walls removed/re-arranged in many areas, updated bathrooms, bedrooms, etc. It also needed extensive exterior remodeling as well which included new energy efficient windows, metal roof, vented soffit system and siding. Along with the cosmetic updates that were needed, the basic systems of the home needed to be updated such as HVAC, plumbing & electrical. We checked into the possibilities of all of these ideas that had been discussed and then had the blueprints drawn up for this Norswiss farmhouse renovation project. We began with a complete demolition of the interior of the home of the original plaster & lathe wall coverings to strip the interior wall to studs. This way the home could be updated with new systems such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and also properly insulated. Lam beams were installed throughout the home to open up the many small rooms in the house to make larger open spaces. The upstairs attic bedroom area was completely removed...roof, walls and all...from the house, to make way for the master bedroom suite addition. The interior of the home was completely remade into beautiful living spaces, which also includes cherry finished custom cabinetry. It was made energy efficient with new windows, exterior doors and spray foam insulation. The exterior was renovated as well to include a copper metal roof, cranberry trim & soffits, and cream SmartSide siding. It really looks amazing and was an honor to complete another project for the wonderful people of Norswiss Farms!!!
